Decontamination and Decommissioning of a Federal Healthcare System Research Center – Nashville, TN

Ameriphysics characterized 36,000 square feet of research space in a building that also provided hospital and other medical services to veterans. Contaminants included H-3, C-14, and asbestos. The survey plan was optimized so that characterization data could be used to reflect final status. In addition to performing radiological surveys and sampling, remediation in fume hoods, floors, countertops, and piping systems was required. In some instances, asbestos removal was required to facilitate remediation. Ameriphysics characterized and disposed of all waste materials.
