Oversight at Papa John’s- May 2nd

 

Built over a railyard that was in operation from the 1860’s until the 1980’s, the University of Louisville Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium faces environmentally challenging scenarios during every phase of construction or expansion. Extensive studies and working with the regulatory community have allowed the University to provide this state of the art athletic facility to the larger community while being protective of the employees, players and the public.

Baxter Springs - April, 4th

 

US EPA Region 7 officials visit Baxter Springs Site

 

In February USEPA Region 7 personnel and officials including Superfund Section Chief, Gene Gunn visited the Baxter Springs Mine Remediation Site OU-3.  This informal visit was conducted to view firsthand the successful completion of Phase 1 of the remediation project underway.  To date, Ameriphysics has moved over 350,000 cubic yards of mine waste and constructed containment cells, detention basins, closed abandoned mines shafts and sealed mine vents.

Kentuckiana SAME - March, 14th

In January, Ameriphysics supported the planning, promoting and execution of the 2016 Kentuckiana Post Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Small Business Workshop held February 3-4, 2016 in Louisville, Kentucky.  The workshop is one of the center pieces of the Kentuckiana Post’s efforts to support SAME’s mission and this year had over 350 participants from the private and Federal sector.

ANL Decommissioning Training Course - March, 8th

As part of the Argonne National Laboratories Facility Decommissioning Training Course conducted February 22-25, 2016 in Oak Ridge, TN, Ameriphysics President Tom Hansen, CHP, PMP, provided experienced instruction and insight as a guest lecturer on the topics of Environmental Health and Safety in Decommissioning Projects, Site/Facility Characterization and Final Status Surveys/License Termination.

Proton Therapy and Decommissioning - Feb, 15th

Last month at the Pint of Science event in downtown Knoxville, we heard an excellent talk about proton therapy from Samantha Hedrick of Provision Center for Proton Therapy. The Center is the first of its kind in Tennessee and only the second in the Southeast. While this technology is new to Knoxville, it has been around for some time in other parts of the U.S. For example, the Indiana University Proton Therapy Center opened in 2004 and treated more than 2,000 patients during its tenure.
